What is a Project Consultation?
A Project Consultation is the first step for remodeling projects that require investigation, planning, or evaluation before a detailed construction proposal can be prepared.
Many remodeling projects begin with questions rather than answers.
- Can this wall be removed?
- Will a sliding door fit?
- Does this require a permit?
- What are my options?
- How much might this cost?
A Project Consultation helps answer those questions before a detailed construction proposal can be prepared.
Typical Planning Process for Complex Remodeling Projects
Some remodeling projects can proceed directly to a detailed construction proposal. Others begin with a Project Consultation and may require one or more additional planning phases before a detailed construction proposal can be prepared. Additional planning phases are separately priced.
Phase 1 — Project Consultation (starting at $350)
We meet on-site to discuss your project goals, evaluate existing conditions, take preliminary measurements, and identify questions or unknowns that may require additional planning.
Phase 2 — Feasibility & Project Planning (Separately Priced Service)
Some projects require evaluating structural conditions, researching permit or code requirements, coordinating with suppliers or subcontractors, or investigating installation methods.
Phase 3 — Scope Development & Preliminary Budget (Separately Priced Service)
Once sufficient information has been gathered, we define the recommended construction scope of work and develop a preliminary project budget to help you compare options and make informed decisions.
Phase 4 — Detailed Construction Proposal
After the required planning has been completed and the construction scope of work has been established, we prepare a detailed construction proposal with firm pricing, project specifications, and an estimated construction schedule.
Why Start with a Project Consultation?
A Project Consultation helps identify opportunities and potential challenges early so you can make informed decisions before committing to construction.
Benefits include:
- Make informed remodeling decisions before committing to construction.
- Identify potential structural or permit issues early.
- Compare practical design and construction options.
- Develop a realistic project budget.
- Reduce surprises during construction.

Why not just get a free estimate?
Many remodeling projects can be estimated after a brief site visit. Other projects cannot be accurately priced until existing conditions have been evaluated, alternatives explored, and the construction scope of work has been defined.
A Project Consultation helps you make informed decisions before committing to construction.
